Patrick Carbone

Senior Physiotherapist

Patrick is the practice principal of Inertia Health Group, receiving his Doctor of Physiotherapy degree from Bond University on Queensland’s Gold Coast where he completed research as part of his qualification with NSW Police Force – Tactical Operations Unit of which has since been published in the Australian Journal of Strength and Conditioning. He also holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement and Health Studies) degree from the University of South Australia and a Bachelor of Exercise Science degree from Griffith University Gold Coast.

Patrick has over a decade of experience as a Physiotherapist previously working in elite sports more particularly in the AFL with the Gold Coast Suns both senior and reserve teams as well as been actively involved in creating their surgical rehabilitation protocols and injury prevention programs as well as on and off field player management. Patrick was also part of the Adelaide Crows Medical Staff during their 2017 Grand Final Season. During his time in elite sports, he received unparalleled exposure to Australia’s leading tendon researchers and their rehabilitation protocols and has developed a keen interest tendon pathology and management. He then went on to spend time working in one of Brisbane’s leading Sports and Musculoskeletal Clinics (Goodsports Physiotherapy Sports and Spinal Care) managing a range of surgical / musculoskeletal and sports conditions/ injury’s as well as ample exposure to managing Work-cover/ DVA and EPC patients. He previously has worked closely with some of Brisbane’s leading shoulder and knee Orthopaedic surgeons and took a key interest in hip and knee pathology. Now working in Adelaide has developed an extensive network of Orthopedic surgeons, sports physicians, radiologists and GPs across Adelaide. Patrick has also been fortunate enough to spend extended times in theatre with one of Brisbane’s leading surgeons Associate Professor Dr Patrick Weinrauch to gain an in-depth understanding of hip pathology / surgery techniques and rehabilitation. Patrick continues to treat a range of people from general population and also still assisting professional athletes in clinic from backgrounds such as the A-League, AFL, NBL, SANFL, NPL and martial arts.

Patrick is a hands-on practitioner who encompasses dry needling or western acupuncture when appropriate and his patients are comfortable. All treatments are followed up with individual rehabilitation exercise prescriptions and progressed appropriately. Patrick looks forward to meeting you and helping you manage or overcome any injury or attain any fitness goal you may be aiming to achieve.

Robert Frick

Senior Physiotherapist

Robert is our longest serving, senior Physiotherapist. Robert graduated from Flinders University in 2017 with a Masters of Physiotherapy and a Bachelor of Health Sciences, he began work here at Inertia Health Group the following year where he was closely mentored by Patrick and exposed to a wide range of musculoskeletal, neurological and sports conditions. He now assists in leading the professional development programs at Inertia Health Group sharing his knowledge with our team of Physiotherapists, playing a key role in our new graduates and junior Physiotherapists growth.

Clinically, Robert utilises a wide range of manual therapy techniques to assist in pain relief and improving joint health and mobility as well as undertaken further training to become proficient in Dry Needling and Cupping Therapies. He has also acted as the match day Physiotherapist for various sports clubs such as the Western Australian Men’s Masters field hockey side. He is the current Physiotherapist for the Adelaide City Soccer Club. Robert is proficient in treating all spinal and peripheral musculoskeletal conditions, he has developed a special interest in treating post-operative ankles, knees, shoulders and hips. He has spent an extensive amount of time in theatre with surgeons observing shoulder, hip and knee surgeries. Robert has also gained experience in treating lesser-known conditions such as benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction. In recent years Robert has furthered his education in treating complex and chronic pain conditions. He currently presents on topics regarding pain sciences through the living well with persistent pain program.

Robert is a friendly, highly approachable therapist; he is always willing to answer any questions you may have regarding your condition and treatment. Robert is passionate about educating his clients and providing them with the knowledge and strategies to assist in helping them manage their conditions and getting them more active in achieving their desired goals.

Lauren Gee

Senior Physiotherapist

Lauren graduated from the University of South Australia with a Masters of Physiotherapy degree as well as a Bachelor of Applied Science Human Movement and Health Studies.

Lauren has a strong interest in working with the athletic population and has had various Physiotherapy roles or worked with athletes across many different sporting codes including Premier League Netball, NBL1 Basketball, SANFL, SANFLW, SAAFL, NPL and the A League (W League).

As well as her passion for sport, Lauren also has a keen interest in post-operative rehabilitation. She has worked extensively with patients who have undergone such surgeries as Total Knee and Hip Replacements, Knee Arthroscopies, ACL reconstructions, Shoulder stabilisation and Rotator Cuff repair surgery along with various others. As well as being experienced in post op rehabilitation, Lauren has also been extensively trained in Dry Needling.

Since becoming a mother herself, Lauren has begun further study into Women’s Health Physiotherapy and is excited to offer this specialty area as part of her service.

Lauren loves chatting with patients and working out how to motivate them to get back to their best. She is passionate about individualising treatment for her clients and provides education, manual therapy and comprehensive rehabilitation and strength and conditioning programs so that each patient leaves her sessions feeling empowered and in control of their own rehabilitation journey from the beginning acute setting all the way along the continuum until they reach their goals!

Daniella Zalurnardo

Senior Physiotherapist & Womens Health Specialty

Dani graduated from the University of South Australia with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy and honours. Daniella has over 10 years’ experience working both in the private and public sector including; the Women’s and Children’s hospital, Royal Adelaide Hospital, Hampstead Rehabilitation and in private practice.

Dani has taken on extra study and focussed on particular areas in women’s health, concussion and vestibular management as well as neurodevelopmental physiotherapy in babies and children, brain and spinal cord rehabilitation, as well as providing general musculoskeletal physiotherapy and injury management.

Dani is a wife and a mum to two beautiful children who keep her very busy. Since becoming a mum, it has really ignited her passion for women’s health, to help mothers feel good and be the best version of themselves. She is passionate about helping women manage the extensive changes that occur to their body both pre, during and post pregnancy and creating a fun social network to support women to keep active. Dani continues to further her education and knowledge in Women’s Health to provide advanced scope services and speciality in this field.

Dani loves all things rehabilitation and working closely with her patients no matter where they are in the rehabilitation spectrum and supporting them on their journey back to full health. Dani has a bubbly personality and enjoys getting to know her patients well in order to tailor their treatments to ensure a very individualised experience. She provides a holistic approach to treatment including education, exercise, manual therapy while also being trained in dry needling.

Ben Frick

Senior Physiotherapist

Ben completed his Physiotherapy degree at Curtin University in Perth. He has since worked as a Physiotherapist across both private practice and hospital settings. As such, Ben has experience treating a large patient demographic and a broad spectrum of presentations: from acute and persistence musculoskeletal complaints to pre and post-surgical orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation.

Ben has also completed a degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of South Australia. He has over ten years’ experience working as an Occupational Therapist in occupational rehabilitation, sports rehabilitation, aged care, pain management and tutoring at universities.

Prior to his studies, Ben was a high-level gymnast, competing both nationally and internationally. This is where his passion for movement and function began. Following his gymnastics career, Ben became involved in coaching elite and levels gymnastics. Through his sporting background, Ben has developed a keen interest in treating the athletic population. Ben is one of the Physiotherapists for the South Australian Gymnastics State Team and also works with Gymnastics SA at the State Championships and annual coaching conferences. Ben is currently the Para-Shooting Australian Team Physiotherapist. Previously Ben has worked with the Adelaide Crows Football Club and the South Australian Institute of Sport to develop and implement a neuromuscular jump/land program based around injury prevention. Ben was also part of the Physiotherapy Team for the West Adelaide Football Club.

Ben is committed to providing his patients with the most up to date evidence-based treatments and working with them to help achieve their goals and return to function. His additional backgrounds in Occupational Therapy and gymnastics assist him with providing creative and wholistic rehabilitation and care as a Physiotherapist.

Nicole Ho

Physiotherapist

Nicole is an experienced Physiotherapist having graduated from the University of South Australia with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours).

She has had exposure across various sporting codes working with the SANFL’s West Adelaide Football Club and Football SA’s State Girls Team where she was exposed to a variety of musculoskeletal and sports related injuries and rehabilitation protocols.

Nicole has been further exposed to a wider variety of clinical presentations, including benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction, paediatric and women’s health clients.

This diversity of clients has allowed her to grow and hone a mixture of treatment approaches. This involves manual therapy through active mobilisation techniques, such as the McKenzie and Mulligan concept, as well as dry needling, shockwave therapy and various taping techniques.

Nicole continues to engage in ongoing professional development, with a special interest in Women’s Health. She is passionate about supporting women wanting to develop strength, confidence and awareness of their body whilst moving safely throughout the various stages of womanhood.

Nicole is trained in Clinical Equipment and Matwork Pilates under the Australian

Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI). She strongly believes Pilates is an effective

and accessible approach to maintaining an active lifestyle at all life stages. In pursuit

of helping others move better Nicole has undergone further training in Pilates methods for pre- and post-natal stages of pregnancy.

Nicole has been exposed to a wide variety of scenarios in the Physiotherapy world from sports and musculoskeletal to honing in on women’s health and incorporating her Pilates training into one on one consults, while also running group Exercise sessions. This has allowed Nicole to build and provide a comprehensive and holistic treatment approach to a wide variety of sports, musculoskeletal and Women’s health issues, and ailments. The combination of her approach allows for patient centred treatment plans and tailored exercise prescriptions & programs, guiding patients in their rehabilitation journeys.

She is enthusiastic about getting to know her patients holistically and empowering them to achieve their personal goals, while maintaining a very friendly positive and approachable nature.

Anthony Tropiano

Physiotherapist

Anthony graduated from Flinders University with a Master of Physiotherapy and Bachelor of Medical Science. Anthony has experience in working across both the public and private sectors. This included inpatient rehabilitation at the REPAT, Southern Cross Care, delivering rehabilitation in the home through the Mt Barker Country Health Service, Ashford Hospital and a wide range of musculoskeletal presentations. He has a key interest rehabilitative care and helping restore function via exercise programming, as well as a being a very complete manual therapist providing manual therapy to assist in alleviating pain, improving function and performance. Anthony has spent considerable time in theatre with multiple upper and lower limb surgeons to gain an indepth understanding of anatomy and surgical techniques and their interplay on rehabilitation post operatively. Anthony is trained in Dry needling and also utilises cupping as part of his treatment practice where required. Anthony is the current Head Physiotherapist for the Croydon Kings Soccer club in the NPL.

His interest for an active approach to restoring function is supported by his own active lifestyle which has spanned many different sports. In particular where he has has played soccer at a high level.

Anthony enjoys keeping up to date with the latest evidence to ensure that he delivers service and treatments which is supported by evidence, while also staying on top of the latest research.

Anthony is a caring, friendly and personable able to work with a range of individuals with genuine interest in helping people meet their health-related goals. He looks forward to being able to assist you as best he can!

Samantha Watts

Physiotherapist

Sam graduated from Flinders University with a Master of Physiotherapy and Bachelor of Health Science. With experience across various public and private sectors, Sam has consistently been exposed to a broad range of clinical conditions and has gained extensive knowledge on how to address them. A strong commitment to continuously build upon her current personal and professional skills has led Sam to complete further education on disability management.

Over the last several years Sam has also worked as a sports trainer with various sporting clubs including Modbury Vista Soccer Club exposing her to acute sports injury management as well as a variety of taping techniques. Sam continues to remain up-to date with the latest evidence while remaining patient centric with regards to care. Sam has always shown a strong passion for both neurological and post-operative rehabilitative care and understands that every patient requires an individualised approach to treatment and care when it comes to alleviating pain and restore functional independence.

Outside of the clinic, Sam adopts a fairly well-balanced, active lifestyle as demonstrated by her participation in a range of different sports including touch football, district basketball and netball. She also loves to crochet and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Sam continually strives to deliver comprehensive and effective care for all patients throughout each stage of their personal rehabilitation journey. Through a holistic and multimodal approach to treatment including manual therapy, exercise prescription and dry needling where required, she helps empower patients to achieve their health-related goals and improve their overall quality of life. She is very approachable and will always make time to listen and answer any questions or concerns which may arise.

Kris Marinos

Senior Podiatrist

Kris has a passion for all aspects of Podiatry and foot health with a personal area of interest in the management and prevention of biomechanical and musculoskeletal related issues, and injury in the lower extremity, guided by the most up to date and current research and treatment practices. Kris believes Podiatry is a blend of art and science in both biomechanical foot care but also general foot health and management.

Kris has worked as a Podiatrist for over 4 years in Private practice Podiatry and has worked with a multitude of sporting teams and clubs across different codes in the management and maintenance of athlete lower limb injury and rehabilitation. Kris appreciates clinical variance and broadening his clinical approach to the way he treats patients, and thus, has undertaken extra training to widen his treatment scope including further study and development in Foot Mobilisation Therapy techniques and lower limb Dry Needling and Acupuncture techniques.

Kris utilises orthotic therapy in combination with exercise therapy to assist in tailoring effective treatment plans for his patients where necessary.

Kris values patient centred care and working with patients and their goals to best reach an optimal outcome, whether it be in musculoskeletal injury and biomechanical care or general foot health and in grown toenail care, general diabetic, or nail maintenance. Kris believes the key to treatment is positive communication between clinician and patient. He thrives on working with patients to understand their issues, injuries, and pathology to define optimal treatment options leading to the best care and outcomes for everyone.

Josh Frkic

Clinical Exercise Physiologist

Joshua has been an Accredited Exercise Physiologist for over 5 years graduating from the University of South Australia Clinical Exercise Physiology Program. He has had a range of clinical experience in both private and public health sectors including Southern Cross Care: Philip Kennedy Centre, Goodlife Health Clubs and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital: Day Rehabilitation Centre. Joshua also has experience in both group and individual exercise programs through his employment.

As an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP), Joshua specialises in exercise delivery, as well as lifestyle and behaviour modification programs for the prevention and management of chronic conditions, injuries, and disabilities. This includes several pathologies such as cardiovascular, metabolic, neurological, musculoskeletal, cancers, kidney, respiratory/pulmonary and mental health, and any other conditions for which there is evidence that exercise can improve the client’s clinical status. Joshua is also an Accredited Exercise Scientist (AES) and can offer the prescription and delivery of tailored exercise programs for a range of health goals. This includes training for weight management, improved lifestyle, and athletic performance. Joshua works closely with your Physiotherapist & Podiatrist in regards to injury management, work hardening programs, athletic programs and optimising human potential and can works closely with your Dietitian with regards to weight loss and weight management programs as well as assisting in optimal exercise prescription for to manage chronic disease. Joshua also has considerable knowledge in working with a multitude of neurological conditions, amputees and acquired brain injuries

Teresa Batista

Clinical Exercise Physiologist

Teresa graduated from the University of South Australia with a Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology Degree (Honours) in 2019. As an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP), Teresa has an in-depth understanding of how to use exercise management to prevent disease onset and treat a range of cardiovascular, respiratory, metabolic, neurological, and musculoskeletal conditions, as well as cancer and mental health. Teresa has had experience across a wide range of conditions from working in previous sectors such ACH Group, Southern Cross Care – The Philip Kennedy Health and Wellness Centre and Neuromoves where she was exposed to a wide range of conditions.

Teresa has had the opportunity to work with a diverse client base and enjoys helping clients with chronic conditions getting back to doing tasks or activities they thought they could no longer do. She believes in providing a holistic and client focused approach to treatment in order to help individuals achieve their goals and overcome the physical hurdles that inhibit them from getting the most out of their life. She understands that not everyone enjoys exercising and therefore she will listen to you and work collaboratively with you to provide appropriate ways to stay active and return to the activities you enjoy. Teresa believes in empowering clients with the right knowledge, skills, and tools to manage their own condition to encourage long-term benefits, prevent recurrences and to help you feel more in control of your life.

Teresa has a special interest around low back and chronic pain, musculoskeletal issues as well as balance and falls prevention. She conducted her honours on falls prevention and understands how a fall can lead to a loss of confidence, independence and reduce a person’s willingness to be mobile and active. She enjoys working with people to help improve general strength & conditioning, balance and body awareness to reduce falls risks. This can be done either in clinic as part of her classes or through a home-based exercise program.

Teresa has always enjoyed living an active lifestyle and grew up participating in a number of sports including soccer, taekwondo and swimming. Outside of work Teresa enjoys attending Pilates, training at the gym and playing the piano.

Nathan Jelfs

Clinical Exercise Physiologist

Nathan holds a Masters of Clinical Exercise Physiology degree from Flinders University. He has had experience is a wide variety of sectors in both public and private health sector. Nathan has had experience working in Aged care with Southern Cross Care, as well as across general rehabilitation, musculoskeletal and neurological injury in private practice. He has also completed a significant stint of time in Private Practice High Performance exercise working with high end exercise programming and athletes.

Throughout his study in becoming an accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) he has been able to develop my skills and knowledge working with clients of all chronic conditions. Nathan strongly believes in providing an individualised holistic approach to every single one of his clients to ensure the most effective and suitable exercise plan is provided, supplying education surrounding topics such as sleep, nutrition, and current/ effective exercise practices. This allows for tailored planning and programming to assist people in achieving their goals.

Nathan’s key interest areas consist of helping individuals rehabilitating neurological conditions, along with assisting in musculoskeletal rehabilitation and sports performance. Nathan has developed and currently heads up Inertia Health Groups Osteoblast classes, aimed at improving the bone density of older adults through group weights and tailored exercise programming.

Nathan has a considerable amount of knowledge regarding cardiorespiratory fitness and prescribing an accurate exercise program to assist you in becoming the fittest version of yourself.

Nathans upbringing and lifestyle consists of staying very active involving him in many different sports such as soccer, AFL, kickboxing and golf. Outside of working at Inertia he enjoys attending the gym and walking my Kelpie Griffin.

Nathan has acquired a large and varied scope of knowledge and experience making him confident he can assist you achieve your goals as best he can.

Kelsi Jane Serrals

Remedial Massage Therapist

Kelsi grew her passion for massage and mechanics of the human body at an early age. This led her to complete her degree in Human Movement at the University of South Australia in 2017. She gained huge insight and knowledge in several areas across health and exercise sciences. Throughout this, she found her true interest lying with remedial massage therapy and went on to complete her Diploma of Remedial Massage in 2019.

Being heavily involved with sport, Kelsi understands and appreciates the importance of complementary and allied health therapies. Her sporting passions lie particularly with netball and football. She has played netball at premiere league level and is a huge advocate of the gym.

This has highlighted the need for massage therapy to help alleviate the aches, pains, stress and injuries that are associated with being an active individual or athlete. For the past 4 years, Kelsi has worked as a sports trainer for the Fitzroy Football Club where she has been able to further her knowledge and apply various techniques to a diverse range of injuries and conditions.

From her years of study, Kelsi places an emphasis on a holistic approach to therapy – she believes that massage can not only help in managing pain, but also assists physically, mentally and emotionally.

Kelsi is a warm and approachable therapist that prides herself in client interaction and communication. She loves to help people achieve their goals and assist in improving their overall health, well-being and quality of life. Client care focus is one of Kelsi’s top priorities. She has mastered the integration of several therapy techniques into her treatment plans and she will ensure you receive a specific and tailored approach to your treatment.

Clair Holmes

Pilates Instructor

Clair is an established Pilates instructor within the Pilates industry in SA, with over a decade of experience in teaching various Pilates forms.

Clair holds qualifications in Matwork, Reformer and Clinical Pilates instruction through Polestar Pilates Australia.

Clair has a background in dance and dance teaching. She first discovered Pilates for herself whilst pregnant with her first baby. The positive impact Pilates had on her own body pre and post-natally, sparked a strong interest for Clair to continue education into Pilates teaching.

Since then, Clair has become qualified in Barre fitness and Pilates instruction with continuing education in pre and post natal Pilates. She has experience in teaching group Barre fitness, group Pilates Matwork and Reformer classes and also small group clinical and 1:1 clinical rehab sessions. In 2019 Clair was voted and awarded SA’s ‘Fitness Instructor of the Year’ award, chosen amongst 50 participating fitness and Pilates studios in SA and their instructors.

Clair teaches the traditional style of Pilates method, combining strength and mobility with a strong focus on alignment (and a little added creative flair!). Clair loves the Pilates method for how functional the exercises and breathing is for improving our quality of movement and strength in our day to day lives.

COVID-19 Update - We Are Open

Our Clinic has been classified as an essential service to the community. We assist by trying to keep people healthy as possible and out of surgeries and decrease hospital admissions. At Inertia Health Group we are working hard to keep our patients and team members as safe as possible.

Due to our strict infection control procedures we have been deemed a low risk clinic- we have all completed the government COVID -19 Infection Control Risk Course and have implemented new waiting room procedures as well as intensified our cleaning procedures completing these regularly through the day. We have also implemented a virtual health service for those who require advice or assistance and cannot attend the clinic.
