We may be looking at targeting postural muscles to support you work better or just your general fitness and conditioning. It maybe you are rehabbing for injury and are not quite confident in hitting a gym program yet or maybe you just want some general sporting and athletic improvement – The great thing is we can target and pitch your individual program at your goals. This is the great thing its individual to you and your needs and its guided by your own treating therapist. You might have back pain, neck pain, headache or knee pain, hip pain, groin pain or another injury. No matter what your goals are we help you to build your strength, flexibility, balance and muscle endurance.

The Inertia Physiotherapy Pilates Process

Never done Pilates before – Its all good! Our Pilates Physiotherapists will guide you through the process – from initial appointment into your first class. If a one on one class is more your cup of tea with can cater for this too. Your first 3-4 sessions will always be conducted as a one on one class – this is to satisfy the requirements set by your health insurance providers allowing you to claim on your health benefits but more importantly to allow our therapists to guide you appropriately and tailor your program optimally. When both you and your therapist are comfortable, having a firm grasp on your individual pilates program we can integrate you into one of our Physiotherapist led classes. The great thing is we only allow 4 patients per class, so your program is individual an monitored throughout.

Our Inertia Pilates programs combine Pilates reformers, Pilates mat work, Pilates trapeze table, Pilates Wunda Chair, Gym and Swill balls, chi balls and Pilates Magic circles. This allows us to work you safely and optimally in a variety of different positions and resistances. We can really focus on your core, gluteals and isolate those limbs of yours to train and work optimally.

Inertia Clinical Rehab Pilates Group Classes

Pilates is a method of exercise and movement re-education based on the interpretation of the work and teachings of Josef Pilates. The basis of Pilates is about control of your body, its position and its movement. Our Clinical Rehab Group classes utilise Pilates rehabilitation exercises which will involve the use of our State of the Art reformer beds, cadillac, and wundachair, along with other functional exercises like squat and lift retraining, as well as function specific, sporting specific, or occupation specific rehabilitation in both MEN and WOMEN of ALL ages.

We are extremely passionate about using our Physiotherapy skills within our group setting to rehabilitate injuries and improve skeletal functioning. We have extensive experience in delivery rehabilitation via a Pilates inspired treatment pathway in which our therapists will assess your body and the way it moves. As a result, our therapists will then adequately tailor a clinical and individualised exercise program that is specific to your needs, your injury and/or your functional movement and goals.

Our Clinical Rehab Groups are a great way to rehabilitate all injuries through improved core strength, posture, flexibility and improved functional strengthening and body awareness. We aim to improve your strength and biomechanics, so that these skills can be transferred into your everyday, recreational, working or sporting life.

Functional improvements like realising you can perform movements you may not have been able to perform previously more comfortably, or general increases in muscle tone and strength throughout the body.

Can I hurt myself whilst doing Clinical Pilates Exercise Classes?

Clinical Pilates Physio exercises can be challenging and difficult to begin and particularly if you have been relatively inactive previously, if performed incorrectly can cause strain on your body. You may initially experience DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness and general post exercise discomfort). It is important to appreciate this is your body’s way of adapting to the new demands and loads placed on it “ITS NORMAL!!”- respect pain but don’t fear it! However, in order to avoid injury and to help ease our patients into becoming familiar with the Pilates equipment and exercises patterns, one on one Physiotherapist guided Pilates training is required with our Physio to begin with. Once safe and comfortable our patients are free to transfer to our classes with their Physio’s approval.
